Wine for Under $10

I received a very nice email yesterday from someone who read my Valentine’s Day post about how I buy some wine and make a nice dinner on Valentine’ Day since my husband and I don’t go out. She said she doesn’t do either because a “good” bottle of wine can cost $30 or $40 or “even hundreds of dollars.” This is far from true. I’m here to tell you there are plenty of nice bottles of wine available for under $10! They don’t come in a box or taste like vinegar, either.

Visitor your local liquor store or wine distributor. Tell him you want to learn about some great tasting wines for under $10 and you’ll be surprised by how large of selection there is. My husband and I love trying new wines, but like you, we also worry about expense. We’re on our wine distributor’s “club list” so we receive discounts on many items. We also get email alerts when there are sales. I have a discount card on my key ring and take advantage of sales.

Since we don’t know as much about wine as we like, we take our newsletters and look up the different wines for reviews and recommendations. This way we know we’re bringing home something most experts consider decent.

Online Websites such as wine.com also feature inexpensive wines, but do be advised there are shipping charges.

By the way, if you want to learn more about wines, including inexpensive brands, stop by and visit Farley at Behind the Vines. Lots of good stuff going on there!

We’ve gone to local vineyards when we travel - they usually have wine tasting sessions where you can taste their wine before you decide to buy. Then you can also buy their wines without paying shipping charges, and take them home. They usually cost less than 30.00 a bottle, plus you are supporting a local business.
