The Red Paperclip Project
There’s a fellow up here in Canada that has got an interesting project on the go. Kyle MacDonald started out on July 12th, 2005 with one red paperclip and the intention to trade himself up to a house. Yes, that’s right - a house!
Over the last 7 months he has been gradually up-trading for bigger and better things and while it may sound silly on the surface, it seems to be working. Here’s the progression of items thus far…
One Red Paperclip >> Fish Pen >> Door Knob >> Coleman Stove >> Generator >> Budweiser sign >> Snowmobile >> Trip to Yahk, B.C. >> Cube Van >> Recording Contract
Kyle has got a weblog going that’s thoroughly keeping track of his adventures. Whatever his current item up for trade is, he’s got a special page up that lists the offers that he’s received for it. It’s really cool and at the rate he’s going, I’ll bet he’ll have that house before the end of the year.
