The Ladder Bookshelf
Wow. This is such a cool, simple and yet elegant example of recycling genius. It was spotted at the Idle Hand Tattoo Studio in San Francisco. An old ladder that’s been repurposed into a bookshelf.
It’s awesome idea because you can use any old ladder, any shape or size. It doesn’t matter if it’s wood or metal and the rungs work out perfectly as built-in book ends. It may not work in everyone’s home, but I love it. Easy to put up too.
Guess what I’m going to be on the lookout for at the garage sales this summer? You can catch a larger image of the bookshelf at this Flickr page here.

Jim - I’ve got to do some work in my bedroom in the next couple of months to make space for our nursery and I’m so going to put one of these in when I do. Thankfully, the wife thinks they’re awesome as well. :)

Being a graduate student apartment renter, how would you go about securing something like that to the wall? I’m really interested in this idea, and want to make it work without losing my deposit! :)
thanks!
