Save Money Going to Italy

Single or taken, going to Italy is one great Valentine’s day get away, don’t you think?
But if you’ve been just plainly planning a trip to Europe since time immemorial, specifically Italy, then here are some guidelines on how to save a few Benjamins on that trip:
1. The Euro has considerably grown against the US dollar. With its 10 percent raise comes the thought that everything else that you spend in Italy would be 10 percent costlier. If you would like to make reservations on anything, say hotels, inquire of the dollar amount then pay in advance. If you can, reserve two months in advance by sending a check to your preferred hotel. If you have limited time, then you can also do some wire transfers.
2. Make use of Western Union service. They have this in Italy. So the secret there is to bring cash with you (yes, that’s in dollars) and to have them exchanged in Europe and not in the U.S. It would be cheaper that way. How much cheaper? That’s about 8 percent cheaper when compared with transactions done in the U.S.
3. Some Bancomats (that’s an Italian automated teller machine to you) take major forms of currencies and would dispense euros. The Bancomats charge lower rates when compared to banks.
4. If you have no other choice but to carry your credit card with you, then just make sure that you would purchase and spend only when needed. This is the most expensive way to spend in Italy or any other European destination at that. If you can restrain yourself from getting cash using your card, then do so. This will save you from exorbitant rates when you go home. That’s a word of wisdom!

[…] If all you want is to travel and you don’t care about any destination in particular then choose to have a vacation rental home in countries where cost of living is lower compared to what you’re paying for at home. Or, choose the cheaper country in comparison to other countries in the continent. If you’re going to Europe, for instance, why not have a vacational rental home in Greece instead of cold, dreary, and absolutely expensive England? […]
