Rite Aid Deals August 3rd to 9th

by Katelyn Thomas on August 3rd, 2008

I am gearing up for Christmas gift baskets a little late this year, so I was excited by some of the free things at Rite Aid this week. (I know…Christmas. But when you are trying to live frugally and still have nice holidays, you have to start shopping early. I have most of my kids’ gifts by the end of January and do final shopping for them in August during the big toy sales. I start shopping for cheap Christmas gifts for adults around June.)

If you like to give gift baskets or just want to stock your health and beauty aid cupboard, you will want to keep a close eye on Rite Aid. The deal is, you buy things in their Single Check Rebate program, submit a rebate request online and get your money back. No tearing off UPC codes and messing up the packages. No postage. I love this rebate program.

So, with the background stuff out of the way, here is what I got this week at Rite Aid:

  • Olay Total Effects Anti Aging Cleanser $7.99
  • Revlon Nail Enamel $2.99
  • Gillette Men’s Shampoo $4.49 (minus $1 coupon from today’s paper.) $3.49
  • Gillette Fusion Power Razor $9.99 (minus $4 coupon.) $5.00
  • Clairol Nice ‘N Easy Hair Color $7.49 (minus in ad coupon and $2 coupon) $3.99
  • Old Spice High Endurance Razor 3 pack $3.99
  • Baltimore Sun $1.75

I will get a refund this month for everything but the Baltimore Sun and the sales tax and I have a nice start on gift baskets for my mom and two of the guys. If you know someone who uses contacts or regular light bulbs or has acne, you can find some additional free rebate items. However, unless they are items my local food bank needs, I don’t buy things I can’t use because sales tax can really add up after a month or two of picking up "free" things.
