Never Visit Empty-Handed

My parents always told me when visiting others for dinner or a party, one should never show up empty-handed. Now that the busy barbecue season is on, it’s tough visiting every weekend and having to buy dessert or a hostess gift. Fortunately, I found a couple of great gifts everyone loves.

The first is raspberry sun tea. I fill a clean gallon water jug and place about a dozen raspberry tea bags inside, leaving the string to hang outside of the jug. I let the jug sit in the sun for several hours and bring it in and remove the tea bags. Can you think of anything more refreshing than an ice cold glass of decaffeinated raspberry iced tea? The Bigelow brand is so flavorful, sugar isn’t necessary at all.

I also like to bring fresh vegetables from my garden. Today, my sister in law is hosting a cook out and I’m bringing the raspberry tea, plus a big bag of fresh lettuce from my garden. She’s a vegetarian and loves a fresh salad. This bag of lettuce will probably feed her for a week.

I know some people like to go all out when visiting others, but I don’t feel it’s necessary. I’ve come to learn some simple gestures are often the most appreciated.

    Hey Deb,
I’m going to try this tomorrow. I read this entry about a week ago but kept forgetting to get the raspberry tea bags!

    Thanks for the idea!
