More Frugal Memorial Day Fun

by Deborah Ng on May 27th, 2007

waterslide1.JPGEven though we’re on a budget, I’ve been trying to think up some fun things for my five year old to do. It hasn’t been too difficult as he re-discovered his fire hydrant sprinkler and that’s been the agenda for pretty much the entire hot Memorial Day weekend so far. We played sprinkler ball, which is basically tossing the ball around through the water, sprinkler follow the leader, and jump over the sprinkler without falling. His favorite thing, however, has been the water slide.

Originally he wanted the hose on the top of the slide so the water fell down the slide full-force. It made for a fast ride, but the landing was worrysome. Instead I hooked up the sprinkler next to the slide. The water still fell, but not full-force. The result was a smooth, fast, mother-approved, feet first landing.
