Money Saving Tips for Young Families

by Noel on February 24th, 2007

young familyHaving babies or toddlers in the family are a delight in most ways, but it’s an indisputable fact that they’re bad for the budget, too. Here are several tips to save on money even with kids on tow.

Make Your Own Baby Food
It may require more time and effort, but you’ll definitely save a lot of money if you make your own baby food. It’s healthier, too, because there you’re using no preservatives and all-natural ingredients.

Use Reusable Diapers
It might be primitive and the washing process is a bit gross but at least you get to save money from it. The cost of disposable diapers can be quite alarming, but if you truly can’t stomach the thought of using reusable diapers for your baby then just make sure that you sign up with the Pampers website. Doing so will allow you to receive £4 worth of discount on Pampers products and free baby development books as well. The site also holds regular contests that could award you with a year’s supply of disposable diapers if you win.

Have Fun at Home
There’s no rule that states it’s impossible to have fun at home, is there? So rent a video, watch your favorite program, play ball at your yard, or challenge yourselves to a game of Scrabble…there are a lot of things you can do to have fun at home without spending a lot of money.

Look for Things Your Baby Can Inherit
It could be anything from anyone. Cribs, strollers, clothes, and even drinking bottles that have been previously used could be some of the things that your baby could inherit from older children of your friends, colleagues, or relatives.

Just remember the most important motto of all: why buy when you can get it for free?
