Laundry detergent: Good to the last drop

I just love this tip from The Consumerist on how to get every last bit of laundry detergent out of the bottle.
If you’re like me, you stand in front of the washing machine for twenty minutes holding the just about empty detergent bottle upside down while the last bit of detergent drips away. Or you swirl water around the bottle for a while, in order to get that last bit of sudsy goodness into your machine.
Consumerist reader Mark punches a hole in the bottom corner of his detergent bottle and uses the cover to catch the leavins’. Visit the original post and check out the comments for more ways to get every last drop from the laundry detergent bottle.

I wonder how many others just smacked themselves in the forehead with a big “duh!” Such a great alternative to standing there watching it dribble.

O.k..this is really bad..but you can also go into laundramats and grab the bottles out of the trash..They are never empty…
and you can always say you need them for VBS craft projects. :)

I just put some water in my jug, put the cap on, shake it, and pour it into my machine.

Deb, congratulations on being mentioned on Consumerist today. I left a comment on your other blog; in my excitement for you, I didn’t think to come here and leave one!

Hmmm, I usually just turn mine upside down. I wonder if this works better or about the same? Perhaps an experiment is called for. Also, I tend to find that dry detergent is cheaper; although lately I’ve been finding great deals on liquid at the grocery outlet.

Thanks so much, Lee. It didn’t bring in as much traffic as I’d had hoped, but I still appreciate and value all my readers.
