How to Save Money with Custom-made Furniture

by Noel on January 26th, 2007

custom furnitureUsually, people would think that having furniture custom-made will increase its price. Although this is true since it would cost extra effort to include personal touches to custom-made furniture, it is not always the case.

So, how can you save money with a custom-made furniture? Here are some tips:

1. Get the furniture made multi-functional.

One way to save with a custom-made furniture is to make sure that it serves other purposes than just one type of furniture. Including a storage option or any other function to a custom-made furniture will save you money by not having to buy another furniture to serve other purposes.

2. Ensure the durability of the furniture.

Since you are commissioning a person to have your furniture tailored to your needs, you also have the hand to make sure that it gets built with the use of the best materials that will help guarantee its durability. Having a durable furniture rids you of the trouble and budget damage caused by buying another furniture every so often.

I would love to have custom built furniture. However, find a furniture maker and having something designed seems to be a daunting task. Would you have any numbers or figures about how much you were able to save by having your furniture built?

Try visiting http://www.custommade.com to find a custom furnituremaker near you. The added advantage of custom-made furniture is that it is usually 1) made from real wood, not particle board, and will last for generations not just a few years, 2) made in America (or your home country) and not built in unregulated overseas factories by underpaid and perhaps even underage workers. All in all, you get what you pay for. There are some things that should not be skimped on.
