Good stuff: Hillbilly How-To and Uses for Tomato Peels
I find some great stuff poking around the web. Some, like this post at Tomato Casual, are quite useful. Here we learn what to do with our discared tomato peels. This is rather timely for me as I’m just harvesting the last of my tomatoes and about to make a big tub of sauce. In addition to composting, the author recommends tossing them into soup stock or toasting them up for a crispy treat.
Other posts, like this one at DIY Life, are just plain fun. Hillybilly How-To offers up some creative uses for old computer parts. Here’s my favorite one:
“When my fifth oldest boy brought home a baby squirrel last week, I thought to myself, “dang! Where are we gonna store that critter until it gets big enough to eat?” And that’s when the wheels started to twist in my brain. I ran out to the woods, picked up one of my old monitors, busted out the insides, gorilla glued some chicken wire to the front, and VOILA! A fully functional squirrel cage!”

That’s too funny, but poor little rat! There’s not enough room in there and what on god’s green is in the water bottle, I wonder?

Now that’s some clever recycling! With a very oddball twist. Except why the monitor was in the woods in the first place is questionable. I guess it’s not now so… wow.
