Free Trees and Plants

free trees and plants

Every now and then I come across a resource so cool I can’t wait to pass it on to you. Free Trees and Plants is one of those resources. The plants aren’t exactly free, you have to pay shipping and handling, but it’s cheaper than buying them at the nursery.

Here’s how it works. Every year nurseries, landscapers, and catalog companies end up with a surplus of plants. What do they do with them? Well, they dump them or burn them. This benefits no one. The fine folks behind Free Trees and Plants salvage bulbs, trees, shrubs and perennials and sell them for the cost of shipping. They’re quality plants for a fraction of the cost.

Last spring when my husband and I were pricing trees and shrubs, we checked the nursery and home improvement center. A forsythia seedling was selling for $16.00 and tree seedlings $15 or more. Free Trees and Plants are giving them away 2 for $7.99. Not bad, eh? Oh and did I mention when you order from this website you help to employ disabled Americans?

It’s too late to order fall bulbs, but you can be sure I’ll be putting in my order for those as soon as they’re available. In the meantime, I’ll be looking into the shrubs and perennials. The red day lilies are looking mighty good indeed!
