Free Things to Do: The Park

by Deborah Ng on January 8th, 2008

holiday

It’s unseasonably warm here on the East Coast. Considering last week at this time it was 12 degrees, I thought an outing was in order. I packed some snacks and water, picked my son up from school, and headed straight to the park. I wanted to get in as much run around outside time as possible before the weather starts to turn again.

I love parks and our area has so many of them. Some are strictly the swing and slide variety but the one we visited today has walking trails, a stream with a few bridges (used primarily for throwing rocks into the water) and lots of great places to run around and climb. We spent a good hour there getting some exercise and fresh air before heading home.

We go to the park in the snow too. Not too many people go in the cold and weather so we have run of the park, make snowmen and have snowball fights. Mind you, it hasn’t really snowed here in a couple of years, but if it did,we’d go to the park.

Enjoy your local parks, that’s what they’re there for!
