Extreme Leaves
When I was a kid my grandmother had several massive maple trees in her backyard. Every fall my brothers and sisters and I would rake these leaves into a big pile against the back stoop. Then we would take running jumps off the stoop into the leaves. The fun would last several days with our friends joining in.
A few decades later we have our own house with big maple trees and our leaf pile rivals that of Grandma’s house. I think it’s even bigger. We like to pile them up at the bottom of our slide so our son can slide into them. We call it extreme leaves.
Our township collects leaves several times throughout autumn, which they will shred and use for mulch in the parks. They also allow us to carry off as much as we want. We used to rake our leaves to the side of the road, but we like the idea of mulch too.
Now after the raking is done and my son has had his fill of extreme leaves, we use the shredding feature on the leaf blower to make our own mulch. We use it to cover the lawn and also in our compost, and the veggie and flower gardens. Now that’s what I call green living!

Wow! That is a very frugal idea! We don’t have anything like that on our leaf blower, but we do have a ton of leaves for picking up :) I worked all day yesterday in them and have a sore back today ;)
