Discount Designer Clothes
If you like wearing designer clothes, but don’t like paying designer prices, I may have a solution. The consignment store is great place to buy discounted merchandise. Here are a few facts about buying on consignment you may not know:
- Consignment shops in upscale locations yield more quality merchandise. This is the place to look for discount, high-end stuff.
- Unlike thrift shops, most consignment stores won’t take anything unless it’s in pristine condition.
- There’s no haggling at consignment shops as they’ve already agreed upon a price with the consignee. They pay a certain percentage to the original owner.
- Consignment stores are great for finding discounted wedding dresses, baby items and home design goods.
Most neighbors have several consignment shops within a ten or twenty mile radius. Why not get to know the shops in your area, and check out the bargains?

I like consignment shops — you can find great stuff. But they always seem more expensive than thrift stores or good garage sales. (I’m pretty much the cheapest girl I know). I sweat over paying more than 2.00 for a shirt. That’s why I go to mainly thrift stores. Now my sis could use this advice. She’s always calling me up all excited saying, “Oh my gosh, I got this great deal on a tee; only $40 buck!” That’s when my heart palpitations start.

I agree, Jennifer. I feel guilty if I pay more than $10 on a blouse and $15 on a pair of jeans from a regular shop - and I always look for cheaper.
I like consignment stores for when I need a “dressy” item like a dress for a wedding. I don’t always find good deals on every day things, though. My friend found a Vera Wang wedding dress at a consignment store for $200! She just needed to give it a dry cleaning.
Thrift stores are great, you just have to be careful and check the merchandise carefully. Hmm….you just gave me an idea for my next post.

I AGREE THAT CONSIGNMENT STORES R GREAT! U CAN FIND LOTS OF GREAT DEALS.
THEY ARE ALSO GREAT BECAUSE WEN UR DONE WITH YOUR DESIGNER CLOSE U CAN MAKE A LITTLE $$$ BACK BY SELLING THEM TO A CONSIGNMENT STORE.
RESALE SHOPS ARE PRETTY MUCH A WIN/WIN SITUATION!
