Always Check for Back Room Bargains

So we bought a new refrigerator. Fortunately the Father’s Day sales were going on. The only problem was that we needed a refrigerator immediately but didn’t want to pay a shipping premium for a rush.
We told our tale of woe to the salesperson and he had just the solution. In the back room, they had a fridge that was the same make and model that had been refused by the original owners. Why? Because the box had suffered water damage and the potential owners didn’t want to accept damaged goods. (A good practice)
The refrigerator was in perfect condition, still with its factory seal. It didn’t incur any damage at all. We were told if we took the one already in stock, not only would he ship it the very next morning, but we’d get a discount to boot. We were so there.
The refrigerator works fine and it looks good. It’s energy efficient and makes a lot less noise than the antique that came with this house. It’s also a good lesson. If you’re shopping for appliances, check with the salesperson to see if there are any back room bargains. Sometimes a stove has a slight dent or a washing machine is scratched. As long as the cosmetics don’t take away from the machine’s productivity, what does it matter if it’s not perect?

That is a great idea Deb! It never hurts to tell the sales people your situation or just ask. I’ll definitely remember this when shopping for new appliances. It looks like we will need a new washer soon. Ugh!
