A Winning Tip on How to Deal with Cat Litter

by Noel on September 7th, 2006

(Pun intended)

Cat LitterHow many amongst us could think of McGyver-ish ways to get out of a sticky sitch? How about thinking of a clever way to manage our furry little pet’s nausea-inducing litter without damaging our budgets so much? Shaunna Privratsky, the frugality contest winner of $100 from Bankrate’s Frugal $ense tips contest, conquered this arena.

Here’s Shaunna Privratsky’s Odor-Free Cat Litter Tip:

I buy the least expensive, scoopable cat litter. Then I add a small box of baking soda and mix it in. This little orange box runs about 37 cents, and completely eliminates odors for a fraction of the cost of the name brand litters. My mother-in-law noticed the difference immediately!

Go try it. If you’ve proven it to be definitely effective, I wouldn’t wonder if you start forgetting about walking your dog, too.

Wanna hear my own tip? Potty train your kitty!

Kidding aside, it’s a good thing I’m not so much of a cat guy. Here in our area, most of the cats are trained well enough to get out of their master’s house and relieve themselves somewhere not too many people can get a whiff of the evil spirit. Yes, these cats are that well-mannered. Eherm! Pretty neat, huh? ;-)

Back to Shaunna, if you want to read more about her frugal ways, read this.

And hey, care to share your own tips?
