The other day, I posted a video from a bank hosting a contest on the most unique way to save money. The ad was very funny and the ketchup ad reminded me of my grandmother. Grandma was a character all right, but she had honorable intentions.
Grandma was a Hungarian immigrant. Her family came here […]

I saw this commercial on YouTube and had to show it to you. It’s funny, but it hit home too. I have a large drawer filled with bottles of hotel shampoos and conditioners and the ketchup bit reminds of my Grandma. It’s brief but funny.

I’ve been hearing lots of good-natured complaining about the weather here on the East Coast. It’s been unseasonably warm, more like a late-August day than late-October. I’m not going to complain, it’s a thrifty mom’s dream come true!
We don’t need heat or air conditioning.

This weather has been so whacky! It’s mid October and usually on the Northeast Coast it means sending kids to school in light jackets. My son is still going to school in shorts. It’s so warm my grape hyacinth are coming up and I’m still harvesting tomatoes and peppers. I have lots of tomatoes! Mostly […]

If there’s anything I despise, it’s the words, “I’m bored.” We have a house filled with toys, crafts and other things to do, a driveway perfect for riding one’s bike or drawing with chalk, and an acre out back complete with swingset and sandbox.
How can a five-year-old possibly be bored? Yesterday afternoon it was […]

When my son and I go out Trick or Treating on Halloween, we especially enjoy looking at the decorations on the houses in our neighborhood. There are a lot of Do-It-Yourselfers in the area, and I’m amazed at how creative they are. Taking inspiration from my neighbors, I give you:
