12 Uses for Plastic Supermarket Shopping Bags
Not sure of what to do with all of those plastic shopping bags you take home from the supermarket? Most supermarkets have a container out front for recycling. You can also use them to contain pet waste and line all your little trash bins. Personally, we prefer buying tote bags and reusing them, over creating more landfill.
Here are some other options for recycling plastic bags and keeping them from taking over your home:
- Cut bags into thin strips and use them for knitting and crocheting
- Ditto the thin strips for a colorful carryall
- Make a wallet
- Make a dress
- Make a rain jacket
- Make a shopping tote
- Make a necklace
- Fuse bags together to make a bag or other items
- Make coasters
- Make animals
- Make a shopping bag
- Here’s another lovely bag

If you’ve got a baby and use disposable diapers, plastic bagsare great to use instead of a diaper genie.

You forgot the 13′th use: Strangle the idiot who invented them with one!
A fun use would be fuse a bunch of them into a giant one, write “BAN THESE BAGS”, then attach a weather balloon and kite string and deploy it near a large crowd. Send press release out first. Do not interfere with airshows or active airline flyways. You could get in big trouble with the FAA. (though that could add publicity)
